Changes To Summer Course Schedule

26 June 2015.

Many thanks to all of you who have responded and signed up for one of our summer courses.

Unfortunately, some of our proposed courses are not musically viable due to the numbers that have applied and we are therefore making necessary changes.

The Youth Orchestra and the Second Orchestra will be combined and follow the Youth Orchestra schedule as previously advertised with the course commencing at 9.30am on Saturday, 18 July at Redborne Upper school. The combined orchestra will give a concert at Bedford Corn Exchange on Tuesday, 21 July at 7.30p.m. The course and concert will be directed by Mr Michael Rose. Please note that on the the concert day, 21 July, the rehearsal will begin at 1.30pm at the Bedford Corn Exchange.

The course will include the Symphony No.8 (the Unfinished) by Schubert and there will be a wonderful opportunity to perform the Elgar Cello Concerto, as well as music by Strauss and music for brass by Gabrielli.

We realise that there may be students who signed up for the Second Orchestra who are not available on the first day of the course, 18 July. Please let us know if this applies to you, or if you wish to not partake of this course opportunity, and we will arrange a refund of any monies paid.
The cost of the course will be £88.00 and we will arrange a credit of £7 for Youth Orchestra applicants who have paid the full fee of £95.00

The Concert Band summer course has had to be cancelled due to lack of numbers.

Students who signed up for the course are warmly invited to the Wind Band course running from Saturday, 18 July to Tuesday, 21 July at Redborne Upper school with a concert at the school commencing at 6.30pm on 21 July. The course will be directed by Mr Paul Burrett, who would welcome the addition of players from the Concert Band.

The cost of the course is £88.00. Students who signed up for the Concert Band course and who do not wish to partake of the opportunity will receive a refund of any monies paid.

The Junior Strings, Senior Strings, Training Band and Wind Band courses will be running as per the previously advertised schedule.

Full details of all the courses can be found at

We apologise to you all for any inconvenience caused by these necessary changes to the summer course schedule.
