21 February 2015.
On Tuesday 24 March the Friends of Bedfordshire Youth Music and Bedfordshire Music Trust will be holding the 2015 Strings Masterclass. This will take place at Wootton Upper School on Tuesday 24 March between 3.15pm and 7.15pm.
After the success of last year, the classes will again be given by David Angel, Martin Outram and Michal Kaznowski of the Maggini String Quartet. Formed in 1988, the Maggini Quartet is one of the finest British string quartets. Its acclaimed recordings have won international awards including Gramophone Chamber Music Award of the Year, Diapason d’Or of the Year and a Cannes Classical Award, and have twice been nominated for Grammy Awards. Members of the Quartet have an international reputation as chamber music coaches. They hold several UK residencies and have worked at the UK’s senior music institutions.
The 2015 Masterclass is made possible by generous donations from Friends of Bedfordshire Youth Music and from the Michael Templeman Memorial Fund, managed by Bedfordshire Music Trust. The session is free and open to students from across Bedfordshire. We have already received applications for three places for violinists, three for viola players and three for cellists from each regional area of Bedfordshire (Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Luton).
In addition to 27 places for participants we have invited an equal number of students (Grade 4+) to come and watch, as the masterclasses will provide a great insight into techniques required for advanced players. These students have also been invited to take part in the string orchestra session.Back Share
