Woodwork Recorder Consort – Family Concert

Woodwork Concert Poster10th February 2016

Woodwork Recorder Consort is performing a Family Concert at St. James Church, Biddenham, on Sunday 28th February at 14.00. It would be great to see you there.

Woodwork is a recorder consort consisting of recorder students and alumni of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Playing on a vast array of instruments ranging from six inches to six feet long, they are rapidly gaining a reputation for colourful performances of music ranging from the medieval period to the modern day. Recent performances have included playing in the Percy Grainger Festival at King’s Place, a performance in the City of London Festival as well as the establishment of a highly creative collaborative relationship with the GSMD saxophone department. The consort was invited to take part in the Carl Dolmetsch Centenary celebrations in 2011, in 2014 commissioned exciting new works from several young composers and in 2015 Woodwork collaborated with the Academy of Ancient Music in the Deal Festival. Woodwork has given workshops in various schools in Scotland and recently worked with students from the Purcell School in London.

The group is directed by Prof Ian Wilson with additional input from the GSMD’s visiting professors, Robert Ehrlich and Karel van Steenhoven.
