Bedfordshire Youth Music Courses

The Bedfordshire Music Trust run courses for young musicians both independently and in collaboration with local music hubs.

Courses may take place during the school holidays or at weekends during term time. Experienced staff will tutor the students over the course and virtually all will culminate in a public performance

They cater for all orchestral instruments covering a range of abilities and there is also the Bedfordshire Youth Opera for aspiring singers! There is no audition requirement for any of our current courses but some might be by invitation only and Youth Opera auditions for principal roles.

Aimed at students who are playing from Grade 2 to Grade 4 standard. The two groups (the Wind Band and the String Band) will rehearse separately but come together for a wide range of musical and non-musical activities.

Currently for string players Grade 3 to Grade 5 who might wish to develop their small ensemble playing. If you are a brass or woodwind player who would be interested in this type of course, please contact us to let us know.

Singers aged between 14 and 26 rehearse and put on a fully-staged opera production at the end of the summer break.

This project is run in collaboration with our local music hubs. It is aimed at students of orchestral strings, woodwind (plus saxes), brass or orchestral percussion up to and including Grade 1 standard and offers them a first experience of playing in a large orchestra!

A collaboration with all four music hubs in the region, giving students of Grade 5 and above an opportunity to come together to perform large scale major orchestral works.
